Everyone Needs a Theme Song

Everyone needs a theme song. Yes, I said it. Even the professionals, leaders, educators, and the "I have it all together" people need a soundtrack sometimes.

For me, music has always been my go-to source for laughter, encouragement, and

motivation. Whether I need to reset after a challenging day, celebrate a small win, or remind myself to keep moving forward, there is usually a song ready to meet the moment.

One of my favorite comedic movies is the Keenen Ivory Wayans cult classic, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. Nearly 38 years later, Bernie Casey's character, John Slade, still has one of the most iconic motivational moments embedded in my heart.

When John Slade says, "They’re my theme music. Every good hero should have some!" I felt that.

That line has become my personal reminder that sometimes you have to tap into your own hero soundtrack. When the doubts creep in, when challenges feel heavier than expected, or when frustration tries to take center stage, I channel my inner John Slade and press play.

My theme song? "Outstanding" by The Gap Band.

I sing it. I hum it. I let it remind me:

"Girl, you got this. You are not just enough. You are more than enough."

Because the right song can shift your mindset, boost your confidence, and remind you of your strength when you need it most.

So, I am curious… what is your theme song? The one that instantly makes you feel capable and ready to conquer anything?
